My name is Scott Martinetti and I’m the owner/operator of Spot Services. I know you didn’t plan on learning all of this, but here we go…..
I began working at age 14 (as most do) as a dishwasher in Portside Seafood Restaurant in Cambridge Maryland. Although it was only cleaning the dishes, it taught me the importance of doing the job correctly, however lowly it might be, and that although lowly and easily forgotten, it was vital to the success of the restaurant. I’ll never forget the cook telling me “your job IS important, because without clean dishes I can’t do my job”. By the time I turned 16 I worked as a subcontractor cleaning storefront windows on a weekly route for a family member during my summer break . As a kid growing up, I saw that almost all of my family was self employed, and it only seemed natural that I work for myself. A few years later I moved to the Lehigh Valley, in Eastern Pennsylvania, and started my own window cleaning company- On The Spot Window Cleaning. It was an adventure… I literally started from nothing, and built up a business that supported most of my needs by the end of the year. At that time I started doing residential windows.
A couple years into the stay in Pennsylvania I had to return to the Eastern Shore to be closer to family. My mother had been diagnosed with COPD, and I moved back to help her. It was a sad time, and it was tough leaving my business behind, but I felt compelled to be close to those I love. So upon my return to the Eastern Shore, I continued working for myself, and eventually changed the name to Spot Services. Upon returning, one of the things I found many of my customers telling me is that the contractors they had called just simply never responded. Or if they did respond, they never showed up. That was surprising- especially considering the shape of the economy (2008/2009), so I took it as an important lesson learned. To this day, you can either call, text, or email me, and unless some catastrophe has taken place, I promise I’ll get back to you.
Since I started doing windows in 2004 until today, things have changed! Before, people would simply hire a window cleaner for their windows and someone else to wash their house, but people are busier and don’t have the time to schedule two different contractors. The need for an all-in-one service was apparent, so I decided to add Soft-Wash House Washing and Non-Pressure Roof Cleaning to the menu of services I offer. The methods used are all approved, recommended and backed by the PWRA (Pressure Washing Resource Association), of which I am a member, and ARMA (Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association) . Beyond their approval, the methods I use are also the safest and most appropriate ways to clean those surfaces to date, and provide the best results.
The Bottom Line
My true belief in running my business is that upfront honesty and sincerity triumphs over any sales pitch and selling method, and if it’s something that won’t benefit the customer, I won’t try to sell it. With that candid honesty though comes the realization that I’m not perfect, and at times I might miss something. If that does happen, just give me a call and I’ll make sure to fix it. Hundreds of home and business owners have relied on and trusted me to get the job done right, are you next? Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope to hear from you soon!
